Although it has become cooler all of a sudden, it’s high time to tour Istiklal Avenue. You still have time to blend into the crowd of the city, listen to street musicians, look at the beautiful garments in shop windows, and experience the Avenue in the shade of historical buildings before the rains start.<\/strong><\/p>\n

You also walk from Taksim Square to Galatasaray High School together with the crowd in Beyo\u011flu. Then, keep walking towards Tunnel, though everybody turns back. It is impossible for you to miss Narmanl\u0131 Inn glittering in its renovated form on the right hand side while approaching Tunnel.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This historical place, which was full of cats and seemed as if it was out of this world with its lush green garden a few years ago, looks like as if it has been constructed all over again after its restoration. Leave aside the much-debated restoration process, and let us tell you about the history of this beautiful building.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Bir ka\u00e7 y\u0131l \u00f6ncesinde kedilerle dolu, yemye\u015fil bah\u00e7esi ile bu d\u00fcnyaya ait olmayan bir yer gibi g\u00f6r\u00fcnen bu tarihi mekan, yap\u0131lan restorasyon ile yeni ba\u015ftan in\u015fa edilmi\u015f gibi. \u00c7ok tart\u0131\u015f\u0131lan restorasyon s\u00fcrecini bir kenara b\u0131rak\u0131n ve hadi gelin bu g\u00fczel binan\u0131n tarihinden s\u00f6z edelim size.<\/p>\n

Narmanl\u0131 Inn is one of the most interesting buildings of Beyo\u011flu once called Pera by foreigners in Istanbul. It was built by Italian architect Giuseppe Fossati as Russian Embassy Building in 1831.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Embassy Building, in which the Russian Tsardom project of access to warm waters had been shaped for 50 years, was used as the Russian Jail from 1880 to 1914. When the World War One broke out and the Ottoman State and Russia waged war to each other on different fronts, the building was put up for sale, and Narmanl\u0131 Family bought it.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u0130stanbul\u2019da yabanc\u0131lar\u0131n Pera diye adland\u0131rd\u0131\u011f\u0131 Beyo\u011flu\u2019nun en ilgin\u00e7 binalar\u0131ndan biridir Narmanl\u0131 Han. 1831 y\u0131l\u0131nda \u0130talyan mimar Giuseppe Fossati taraf\u0131ndan Rus El\u00e7ilik binas\u0131 olarak in\u015fa edilmi\u015fti.<\/p>\n

50 y\u0131l boyunca Rus \u00c7arl\u0131\u011f\u0131n\u0131n s\u0131cak denizlere inme projesinin \u015fekillendi\u011fi El\u00e7ilik Binas\u0131 1880 ile 1914 y\u0131llar\u0131 aras\u0131nda Rus Hapishanesi olarak kullan\u0131ld\u0131. D\u00fcnya Sava\u015f\u0131 \u00e7\u0131k\u0131p Rusya ile Osmanl\u0131 Devleti farkl\u0131 cephelerde birbirlerine sava\u015f a\u00e7\u0131nca bina sat\u0131\u015fa \u00e7\u0131kar\u0131ld\u0131 ve Narmanl\u0131 Ailesi taraf\u0131ndan sat\u0131n al\u0131nd\u0131.<\/p>\n

Then began the most vivacious years of Narmanl\u0131 Inn. In the building that was called Narmanl\u0131 Hostel in later years, numerous artists, poets, writers, notably Aliye Berger, Ahmet Hamdi Tanp\u0131nar, Bedri Rahmi Ey\u00fcbo\u011flu, lived and created their works with its inspiration.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Narmanl\u0131 Han\u2019\u0131n en canl\u0131 y\u0131llar\u0131 da o zaman ba\u015flad\u0131. In the 90s, the teahouse in the courtyard of the building, on which the impacts of the past time were rather clear, was frequented by the youth and mostly the cats.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Although the trees in it have been uprooted and its courtyard has been paved with asphalt, Narmanl\u0131 Inn that has set on its feet after the restoration is now more interesting with the statues paying tribute to the artists who lived there previously.<\/strong><\/p>\n
