Hagia Sophia is one of the most glorious pieces of art of the historical peninsula and is one of the oldest as well since its history is 1480 years long. Hagia Sophia was built by the Byzantine Emperor Justinian I and is the oldest cathedral in the world. It was transformed into a mosque after the conquest of Istanbul by Fatih Sultan Mehmet in 1453. Nowadays it serves as a museum and hosts guests from all over the world.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Tarihi yar\u0131madan\u0131n en heybetli eseri olan Ayasofya, 1480 y\u0131ll\u0131k tarihi ile ayn\u0131 zamanda en eski yap\u0131lardan bir tanesi. Bizans \u0130mparatoru I. Justinyen taraf\u0131ndan in\u015fa ettirilen ve g\u00fcn\u00fcm\u00fczde d\u00fcnyan\u0131n\u0131n en eski katedrali olma \u00f6zelli\u011fini ta\u015f\u0131yan Ayasofya, Fatih Sultan Mehmet\u2019in 1453 y\u0131l\u0131nda \u0130stanbul\u2019u fethinin ard\u0131ndan camiye d\u00f6n\u00fc\u015ft\u00fcr\u00fcld\u00fc. G\u00fcn\u00fcm\u00fczde ise bir m\u00fcze olarak hizmet veriyor ve t\u00fcm d\u00fcnyadan misafirlerini a\u011f\u0131rl\u0131yor.\"ayasofya\"<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n

The building that exists today has been built instead of the cathedral which was burned twice due to riots. For this reason, it is named as 3rd<\/sup> Hagia Sophia. The construction date of the first Hagia Sophia goes back to year 360.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

G\u00fcn\u00fcm\u00fczde varolan bina asl\u0131nda iki defa isyanlar sebebiyle y\u0131k\u0131lan katedralin yerine yap\u0131lm\u0131\u015ft\u0131r, bu y\u00fczden 3. Ayasofya olarak adland\u0131r\u0131l\u0131r. Birinci Ayasofyan\u0131n yap\u0131m tarihi ise 360 y\u0131l\u0131na kadar uzanmaktad\u0131r.<\/em><\/p>\n

The human figured mosaics were covered by a finishing coat after conquest of Istanbul by the Ottoman Empire, the ones without human figures were left same and 4 minarets were added to the structure by time. When Hagia Sophia was transformed into a museum in 1935, the mosaics under the finishing coat came in view in an unharmed status and the inner structure of the piece of art still preserves its aesthetic concept after hundreds of years.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n
