An Affordable, Comfortable 4-star Hotel... . I found the midtown to be a strong 4-star hotel and an excellent value in the European section of Istanbul. midtown is located in the Takim district of Istanbul about 2.5 miles from the major tourist attractions in the Old Town. Public transportation is convenient to the hotel with a subway station 200 yards from the hotel. I understand you can reach midtown from the airport via public transportation; however, I did not try it. The hotel will provide a car for travel to the international airport for 40 euro and during my stay midtown. Security is obvious in the tourist sections of Istanbul. midtown is located in an enclave complete with security guards who restrict vehicle traffic. This offers the added advantage of minimizing vehicle noise around the hotel. midtown also has 24-hour security guards (as do most of the hotels in the area). If that level of security is not to your Hilton takes security one level higher with complete vehicle searches and every entrance to the property covered by guards. The rooms at midtown are small by US standards and similar in size to what you find in other European cities. Although the rooms have 2 chairs they are not really large enough for 2. I would suggest an upgrade to a suite for parties of 2 or more. The only noise I encountered was from the restaurants on the streets below. I would recommend a room on the upper floors for that reason . The bed was new and pretty hard with lots of pillows. The furniture was a bit worn but still very functional. The bathroom was modern with a very nice shower fixture in the tub. Air conditioning is important in Istanbul particularly in the summer months. The system in midtown is modern and worked very well during my stay. midtown provides free wi-fi enabled internet access. Although other reviewers have covered the free buffet, I still found the quality a surprise. There is something for everyone. The fresh fruit was a real treat. The fresh breads were very popular. The buffet includes both scrambled and hard-boiled eggs. In addition, the chef provides a variety of meats and cooked vegetables that provided menu variety from day-to-day. I had dinner in the restaurant on 3 occasions and found the food quality excellent. In addition, there are a broad variety of restaurants within easy walking distance that serve until late at night. Ramadan was being celebrated during my stay and the restaurant was hosting several large groups. The staff at the hotel was friendly and professional. Most speak English and all are eager to please. Room pricing seems to vary widely depending on demand. If you book early and catch them when there is not a major sporting or cultural event in the area you will get a high-quality room at a generally quiet, safe hotel. I was completely satisfied with this hotel and midtown will be my first choice next time I go to Istanbul.

The staff here ticked all the boxes of 1st class customer service.This hotel is in a prime location down a pedestrianised quaint street but within easy reach of Taksim Square, shops/restaurants/nightlife etc. The rooms are clean and comfortable worthy of the 4 star rating. The only thing this hotel lacks is a high view of the Bosphorus and skyline which we saw from a few of the prestigous hotel chains having said that not worth the ridiculously higher cost in comparison to the midtown and able to see this from restaurants and other landmarks during our stay. Would definately consider returning. A must is the evening Bosphorous Dinner Cruise Tour

It is just as good a location as any other hotel in this area so if you are trying to decide on a hotel based on location this is a good bet. Also, the room was very nice and very clean - we had a superior which was also very large, but we saw the regular rooms also which were good. It was also nice that the A/C worked great - heat and cold also - and it was generally quieter and a lot of other hotels we have stayed in. Overall a very pleasant experience in this hotel. A very good 4 star hotel! I would recomend it to anyone going for a weekend trip to visit the city.

Nice modern hotel located only a two blocks from Taksim...midtown was the assigned hotel for our group during our stay in Istanbul prior to visiting other cities. We stayed there for 2 nights and what is really impressive is the infrastructure and the breakfast! The hotel decoration is clean and modern. The room was large enough for three single beds (two large ones and a folding one), and the bathroom was really nice. But the best was the breakfast. I've never seen such assortment of food, especially the local things such as cheese, olives, Turkish delights, etc, in addition to the usual ones, and it all looked so delicious! Staff was friendly and helped us with direction and shopping tips. The hotel is about 200m from Taksim square and Istiklal Caddesi, and there are plenty of restaurants and cafes around those pedestrian streets where one can go. I felt in love with the old neighborhood of Sultanahmet, but if I had to stay near Taksim, midtown would definitely be a good option.

Location is right near Taksim Square but on a pedestrian only street so it's pretty quiet at night...Hotel is modern, rooms have everything we needed, including a daily bottle of water, choice of pillows (you can request what you want). Breakfast was nicest we had in Turkey with something different every day, in addition to the usual fruits, yogurt, breads and pastries, assortment of yummy Turkish cheese, honeycomb w/dripping honey, coffee and juices. It is self-service but staff is available to help if needed. When we arrived without our luggage, we mentioned that the next day was our 40th anniversary. When we returned to our room the next evening, hoping to find our suitcases, they weren't there. BUT -- we had a letter from the hotel manager along with a basket of fruit and a beautiful display of Turkish pastries. Timing could not have been better. We felt so taken care of. Free wi-fi but I had no way to charge my iTouch. When I asked what I might do of the front desk staff, they offered to charge the iTouch on the front desk computer. We went elsewhere in Turkey and were able to store our suitcases (which did eventually arrive) at the hotel so that we could just take a small bag with us. I gave a 4 instead of 5 to rooms only because we could hear outside noises from another room with children. Otherwise, the room was excellent. I highly recommend the hotel, location and staff
